A trustee is the township’s executive officer and has various responsibilities to help a community thrive. The trustee provides management and leadership of the township which includes providing financial assistance to residents, maintaining public properties, and ensuring that the township has comprehensive fire protection. The trustee is also responsible for the accessibility of township records, community upkeep, and so much more.
In a time of crisis, a trustee’s office is there to help, and the resources available to them depend on the local needs of the community. From assisting residents in finding temporary shelter to coordinating emergency transportation, providing direct support to the community is the trustee’s top priority.

About TRUSTEE
JASON CRITCHLOW
Portage Township Trustee Jason Critchlow was born in South Bend and is the son of a South Bend Police officer and healthcare worker. A 2000 Washington High School graduate, Jason was the first in his family to attend college and graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Math & Science and later also earned a Master’s of Public Administration.
Jason believes that every family deserves to be healthy, safe, and economically secure and strives to help meet those needs as Trustee.
